M3A2 - First Impressions

To get things going quickly I have a clean install using:

boot.iso 10/02/12 32-bit

This was not possible even as of late as last week.

Source was my local repo ( My source mirrors.kernel.org ).

My major issues still in play are:

NFS

You have to double install FTP to make it work
Drakwizard needs to be worked.

NFS share does not mount at boot but mounts with a root "mount -a" command
You have to manually mount NFS after boot. Ref: Bug 207

For the last NFS issue, does the (_netdev) advice in https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Mageia_2_Err ... t_in_fstab help, or could you try with the network-auth service enabled: http://wiki.mandriva.com/en/2009.1_Notes#New_services

Seems the Apache handling cannot be safely automated (see the comments from Guillaume in the bug report).

For the drakwizard FTP problem i'll try to take a look. But actually drakwizard is not really maintained overall ... :/

i just installed 64 bit version of alpha 2 from clean hard drive.

WOW. that says it all.

Just a thought but it would seem your test was with current Cauldron which is a week or more newer than Alpha2.

I downloaded the Live DVD KDE ISO, 32-bit, yesterday and installed it. I installed it to my HD and , so far, every thing is going smoothly. Looks like another good job from you folks. Congratulations.

Yesterday I put the Live KDE mga3a2 CD iso to USB.
Booted, installed, upgraded, installed more... on thinkpad T43.
Just works
- everything i need to set it into "production" i.e entertaining my children. gcpmpris, Numpty Physics, TuxMath, Childsplay, web TV and games...
even hibernate and suspend are very quick both up and down, and wifi reconnects.
This is just wonderful

Wed., I installed a fresh copy of the M3A2 LiveCD on an Core 2 Duo system with 2gb of memory. It is the Gnome 3 version also. So far so good. No issues that I see and the installation went well. It picked up my Windows 7 installation and added it to Grub. It also picked up the external hard drive (500gb) and included my MIFI USB internet adapter without issues.

I just purchased this system from Ebay and installed Win7 on it first, what a chore that was. I had to unplug the ext. HD before it would continue installing at the partition screen. Once I got W7 installed, I had to use my cell phone to goto Dropbox and download the MIFI adapter driver (RNDISInst). I don't know why Windows doesn't include this by default, but good thing Linux does.

Just some thoughts on how this installation went.
