Is sgfxi available with mageia

Re: Is sgfxi available with mageia

I have downloaded the PDF documentation for my ATI Mobility Radeon HD4500. The document lists the following dependencies that are needed for the driver to work:

The following packages must be installed in order for the ATI Catalyst™ Linux driver to
install and work properly:
- XFree86-Mesa-libGL
- libstdc++
- libgcc
- XFree86-libs
- fontconfig

I checked if the above were installed or available in the repos and I found out that neither XFree86-Mesa-libGL nor XFree86-libs were available or installed.

Any ideas?

Just installed sweethome3d to have a look on mine, using the cat driver also.
seems to run fine.
If i run
Code: Select all
[root@localhost ~]# systemctl status atieventsd.service
atieventsd.service
Loaded: error (Reason: No such file or directory)
          Active: inactive (dead)

[root@localhost ~]

Dont use that i guess!

Seem to be using the same java package also

Code: Select all
update-alternatives --config java

There are 2 programs which provide `java'.

  Selection    Command
-----------------------------------------------
*+    1        /usr/lib/jvm/jre-1.7.0-openjdk.x86_64/bin/java
      2        /usr/lib/jvm/jre-1.6.0-openjdk.x86_64/bin/java

Enter to keep the default[*], or type selection number:

:?

Only thing i can see is am using the newer Cat drivers. Try the new drivers, ya never know ;)

Pete

Edit: just thought, think the 4xxx series arn't supported by them any more. But not sure on that

What new drivers and where do you get them?

Thanks,

Do you have other 3d programs or games from the repositories which work without problems, or other java programs?

Was right about the driver it seems, last onr for the 4xxx is Cat 12.6 http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/linux/legacy/Pages/legacy-radeon_linux.aspx
Don't know if that's what's in the repos all ready.

Think its a java problem my self and not driver related.

This is what java packages i have in.

Code: Select all

No. I beleive sweethome3D is the only 3D program I have on the system. Could you recommend a 3D game to install for testing. I will do that as soon as I am able to boot back into my system!!!!! :(

Thanks,

Michel

Chromium B.S.U. (package name is chromium, not to be mistaken with the browser) would be a good candidate, or try one from viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3222
