[SOLVED] Cannot find some KDE apps

Postby catowner » Sep 8th, '12, 15:59

Hello, I have just installed Mageia 2 last night and whilst searching the software centre I was unable to find certain packages, namely K3B; libdvdcss2; kmediafactory; kdenlive.

I had activated all three repos (core, nonfree and tainted) and had updated the records to my computer but when searching for these packages nothing comes up.

Are there any other repos that I should be adding to get these packages?

Also, I actually installed from a liveCD of Mageia 2 RC (release candidate) then updated the whole system to turn it in to a full blown stable version.

I did find a website where I can download the libdvdcss2 package. I am assuming that K3B is available somewhere as it is usually one of the default KDE apps. in other distros.

Help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Dave

The packages you mention are all available in the Mageia repo's. Have you added a full set of online repo's, not just updates?

https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Software_man ... nd_updates

Also make sure that both of the drop down filters are set to "All":

The default setting for the first of these can be unhelpful.

Jim

Edited to clarify question about online repo's

online repo's? You mean there are two types, online and offline?

Yes I did set the drop down filters to All

I didn't use the default server (which in my case was set to US) but changed it to GB (thinking that it related to Great Britain). Should I put it back to its default?

Since there is no Mageia mirror located in the UK, I'm not sure what you changed :)

What is the result of each of the following commands entered in a konsole?
Code: Select all
urpmq --list-url
urpmq --list-media active

Thanks, you've just helped me by informing me that I have the connection to the server set up incorrectly.

FWIW, for mirror information you may want to have a look at http://mirrors.mageia.org/
Apart from that, what's the status with you initial problem? If it is solved, please mark the thread accordingly
