OpenJDK enumeration system

Hi,

I've tried to make a small research on Oracle/Sun/OpenJDK Java implementation (purely for self-education), but the release/update naming system seems to be very tangled...
Say, we have recently released Oracle JRE 6 Updates 34 and 35. In Mageia 2 there is OpenJDK 1.6.0 build 24 update 34 (java-1.6.0-openjdk-1.6.0.0-34.b24.1.mga2). Is it correct that updates #34 in Oracle and OpenJDK should be basically the same?
However, there also exists OpenJDK 1.6.0 build 25, so how do I figure out how its latest update correlates with build 24 update 34?
In the same time for Mageia 1 only OpenJDK 1.6.0 build 22 update 29 is available, so does it mean that it is actually 5 updates behind the most recent one (34-29=5)?

May I ask someone to explain this to me in plain human language, as the official OpenJDK website apparently uses very specific (professional?) slang that I just can't understand...

Thank you.
