FYI

I tried to use the Mageia AMD proprietary fglrx packages again (amd-12.4) but no-go.
I tried 12.6 from AMD-site, but that doesn't work either.

The 12.4 from AMD-site DOES work.

So, if you see weird errors with AMD-12.6.......use 12.4 !

What does no-go mean exactly? Any error message or some more details? You didn't even mention which graphics card you use.
FWIW, for many others fglrx just works, maybe it's just a setup problem or misunderstanding?

no-go was a no-brainer but OK: '12.6 does not work, do not use it'

And what might be the setup problem? Even on a clean install it did not work on an all-AMD system.
Misunderstanding... well I tried to install all the FGLRX and AMD related stuff. what do I need to do more?

On the X-setup it even offered the propietary driver & I said yes. Does that setup not work?
Maybe it does with an Intel processor?..... no idea. will not buy intel.

I am used to run the AMD installer by now. That always works. (well, not with 12.6)
