[SOLVED] Error installing chromium-browser

Postby riclags » Aug 13th, '12, 03:08

Hi, I am a new user of Mageia and I am wondering what I did wrong. I am getting an error when I try to install chromium-browser:
Sorry, the following package cannot be selected:

chromium-browser-stable-20.0.1132.57-2.1.mga2.i586(due to unsatisfied libevent.so.5)

I don't know if this is because I am using the 700MB install disk or because I only opted to install LXDE, Configuration tools, Documentation and Console tools during install.

I tried searching libevent.so.5 in the package manager but no search items are found.

Yes, I added both the `core` and `nonfree`. I don't recall enabling any `Mirror Lists`. I'll try to see about that later on.

Solved. I re-installed the whole OS and when the time came to specify another installation medium, I selected Network (HTTP). Once I got into the system, I updated the media/repo lists via Mageia Control Center and I was able to install Chromium.

Thanks.
