[SOLVED] unable to install Calligra suite

Postby Garthhh » Jul 31st, '12, 18:04

I stared trying to figure out why I couldn't report a bug to kde, about calligra crashing when starting a new document
https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6850
it appears there are some packages missing that make calligra work

I tried to install the newest calligra version
I can create a new blank database on kexi [installed in addition to calligra core], but template are broken

calligra stage [also installed after calligra core], crashes when opened

How do I get Calligra suite working

Can you please tell exactly how you tried that?

installed Kexi
created a DB, went to create a form from template [error message not supported by this version]
wondered if I needed the rest of the Calligra suite
went to MCC
searched for Calligra
Installed calligra core 64 bit, which is described as a set of office applications
couldn't find any apps on the launcher menu
went back installed sheets & word
opened word, tried to create a new document, crashed, tried to file a bug with kde, couldn't packages missing
filed a bug with mageia bug squad [see link above]

I enabled
Mirror list Core 32 bit Update testing (distrib 35)
&
Mirror list Core Update testing (distrib 5)
uninstalled / reinstalled Calligra from MCC
still no joy
clearly Calligra as delivered is not ready for use
what's next?

Why did you enable testing repositories?

Also, please show the output of
Code: Select all
urpmi calligra
as root

I enabled testing at the suggestion of the bug squad, they were of the opinion that I needed a newer version of Calligra

the output:
A requested package cannot be installed:
krita-2.4.3-1.mga2.x86_64 (due to unsatisfied libQtShiva.so.0.1()(64bit))
Continue installation anyway? (Y/n)

when I search MCC [set to all] I don't find
libQtShiva.so.0.1()(64bit)
or anything libQT for that matter

Seems you're using an incomplete mirror, that package is available, and i have it installed:

Code: Select all
[doktor5000@Mageia2 ~]$ ufn Shiva
Core Release:lib64QtShiva0.1-0.9.2-1.mga2.x86_64

Please show the output of
Code: Select all
urpmq --list-url

lib64qt?

It's all greek to me too :o

as far as I can tell Dok gave me the CLI incantation to install Calligra[ urpmi calligra ]

resulting in
Code: Select all
A requested package cannot be installed:
krita-2.4.3-1.mga2.x86_64 (due to unsatisfied libQtShiva.so.0.1()(64bit))
Continue installation anyway? (Y/n)

which seems to indicate something is missing
so I went to MCC>software management, to see if what is missing could be found
which doesn't seem to be possible directly
so close, but not obtainium through what appeared to be a straight forward method

To get libQtShiva.so.1 installed, one could issue:

Code: Select all
urpmi lib64QtShiva0.1

in console, no need to say, this must be done as root.

@isadora: Help is appreciated, but more disturbing for the user if it won't really help. urpmi will resolve dependencies
automatically, no need to install something manually. But only if the relevant repositories are setup and the mirror is up-to-date.
In this case Core_Release repo is missing, so it just can't be installed.

@Garthhh:
You are missing the most vital repo, Core_Release which carries the most amount of packages, hence this dependecy can't get resolved/installed currently.
Either enable it via MCC -> Configure media sources for install and update or do the following as root:
Code: Select all
urpmi.update --no-ignore "Core Release"

But i'm not quite sure why all the other repos don't have an URL listed, this may be a problem, even when enabling this repo. But please try and report back.

Nevertheless i wonder why this repo got disabled in the first place.

tried to uninstall/reinstall calligra
no joy
the individual modules [only calligra core]no longer show up on mcc

tried the CLI incantation from a few posts back, which resulted in
Code: Select all
A requested package cannot be installed:
calligra-2.4.1-1.mga2.x86_64 (in order to keep calligra-2.4.3-1.mga2.x86_64)
Continue installation anyway? (Y/n) Y
While some packages may have been installed, there were failures.

Because you have installed already the testing version, which is newer. And urpmi can't install/downgrade to older packages.

And i've just tried everything you described, it works fine here with the nomal Mageia 2 calligra packages. That is kexi doesn't give the output you said,
i created a new form for a database just fine, and Words also works fine, doesn't crash.

Remove every package related to calligra, and reinstall calligra without enabled testing repositories.

I'm not sure of what the "distrib" denotes, but kind of handy for identifying the media sources
I have
1,2,3,11,13,21,23,31,33 enabled
calligra uninstalled through MCC
next step?
