(SOLVED) seem to have misused mke2fs

I placed

mke2fs -c /dev/sbd1 -L externalbackup1.5 -t ext4

in terminal.
but the

Filesystem label=externalbackup1.

came out that way, with the 5 missing.
is it a case of there only being so many characters allowed?
