this can be solved with this command when you are connected to internet:

# urpmi.addmedia --distrib --mirrorlist 'http://mirrors.mageia.org/api/mageia.1.$ARCH.list'
replacing $ARCH by i586 or x86_64.


If all is fine, your pc should be able to download packages,
so you can try to configure the graphic card.

After a graphic boot failure (black screen),
relevant information are given by the following command,
so you should show us its output:

@tom_: Normally urpmi should be able to auto-expand something like $ARCH or $RELEASE ...
Also, the command you posted is for Mageia 1 repositories.
Cauldron is not for the faint of heart!
