Perl modules as dependencies

Postby laidlaws » Apr 10th, '12, 12:03

I am trying to install an RPM from SourceForge. Looking at the spec file, it depends on Perl modules, only some of which are available as RPMs. Can I download them with CPAN? If not, it seems odd to specify a non-RPM as a dependency.

What package exactly do you want to have installed from SourceForge?

Yes you can install perl modules with CPAN, but the Mageia perl packagers think it is best to install them by rpm. See here

If the perl package you need is not available in Mageia you could raise a request in bugzilla for it.

FWIW, you can also package perl modules in cpan to Mageia packages as it was the case with Mandriva already. Should work with most ones.
