[SOLVED] Virtual box and guests

Postby RoyD » Jul 17th, '12, 08:32

Hi, What is the best way to install the guests (extensions) on VirtualBox (I need the USB to work). I installed VirtualBox 4.1.12 from Mageia. I thought ok now for the Guests but Oracle do not have Guest for 4.1.12 only newer versions. So do I uninstall this VBox and install from Oracle. If I do which one eg Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 (RHEL6) / Oracle Linux 6. I am running KDE, 586 machine. Thanks Roy

Thanks for your help jkerr82508
It cannot be installed because of unsatified libpython2.3.so.1.0. I tried installing from MCC but the search could not find it?
Cheers Roy

You need the 'all platforms' version
http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/4.1.12/Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-4.1.12-77245.vbox-extpack

Install it by in your virtualbox manager
File>Preferences>Extensions select 'Add'

I had to urpmi kernel-devel. I then added to the user usb and vboxuser. I had to do a full reboot before it was activated. Thanks for finding the file.
