Lacie Network Attached Storage

Lacie Network Attached Storage

Postby treadstone » Jul 11th, '12, 20:45

I'm completely new to Mageia and also to Linux in general but I've installed Mageia on a secondary hard drive and am trying to learn it. We've got a NAS drive from Lacie attached that I can see but I can't get it to mount. Can someone please give me an idea as to how to do this. I also can't figure out how to make my Logitech MK320 keyboard buttons work such as the volume buttons. Thanks to anyone that helps.

I assume it is attached to your mageia via network and not via USB.
If you are used to see your Lacie via a windows PC,
you should see it running Dolphin, network, samba shares.

Otherwise tell us more about your configuration

You're right, it is connected via my network. When I go into Dolphin, I don't even see a network option. However, if I go into the Mageia Control Center - Network Sharing - Access Windows (SMB) shared drives and directories, I can see my wireless space with both partitions. Now is when I run into the problem though...when I tell it to mount so that I can access it, it says "mouting partition //wirelessspace/MyShare in directory /mnt/MyShare failed". I have a very very limited amount of working knowledge on a linux based system so I'm certain I'm probably not doing it right but I just don't know. Hopefully someone can help me out here as I would really like to learn/use this operating system on a regular basis. Thanks to all who may help.

I still haven't had any luck getting it to mount. I'm quite new to anything but windows so I'm not even sure I have to mount it. Is that the right way to do it or does Mageia have a "My Computer" equivalent where I can basically map a drive? Thanks again.

first do this simple test:
you should know the ip of your NAS, so open a terminal and try

Code: Select all
ping ip_of_your_nas

and let we see the result

then you could try to stop the firewall: open a terminal and digit

Code: Select all
su
(type your root password)
systemctl stop iptables.service

and now you can see if things are improved
