[SOLVED] Can't start webmin

I just installed Webmin in my computer, 86-64, with Mageia 2.
When I tried to start Webmin I getthe following error:
Can't connect to server localhost:10000

I will remeber there is a way to accest Firefox setup but I don't remeber how.
Or do I have to do some other configuration?

hi,
webmin isnt starting by itself under mageia2, and its good this way, its a dangerous tool.
if you need to run it, simple open a console-box , type su and pwd and then /etc/init.d/webmin start
then u can access webmin by https://localhost:10000
when ur work is done dont forget to stop webmin, if you want to access from remote you need to open port 10000 / tcp
but dont be surprised, webmin isnt yet optimized for mageia, lots of settings are by default missing at time,
i think it would be a great idea if the developer create a own mageia release of webmin

At the moment webmin starts without Mageia customisation and you will find many features do not work correctly.
If you look at https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3444 specifically comments 6 and 8 you can easily add the Mageia customisation.
(Note: After patching webmin the procedure in Comment 5 of the bug has to be performed before webmin will work.)


If anyone with commit rights is reading this please spend a few minutes updating webmin in SVN.

Thanks for help. It works and I ugraded to 1.580. Then I had to do the same procedur again and it works.

not a problem, them must be helped who need help... no?
Hint and my opinion, bec Webmin is such a dangerous stuffed tool, i think auto-startup isnt the best solution, would be no problem to update rc, but i defenately wont do that

I agree, Webmin needs to be updated, lets see who has a clue what to do and when done , i am stuck at vdr, vdr-sc and other related stuff making me gray hairs ^^
