Well, you already tried that with the Mageia 2 repos in viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2782 We can't do anything about it, md5sum for hdlists on that mirror looks good, if you want that issue to be fixed you should rather contact the responsible admins for that mirror. And just use any of the other mirrors in between: http://mirrors.mageia.org/

Just use urpmi.addmedia. For example using mirrors.kernel.org (which is the mirror I usually use) -
Code: Select all
urpmi.addmedia --distrib 'http://mirrors.kernel.org/mageia/distrib/$RELEASE/$ARCH'
Mageia 2 x86_64, KDE 4.8.5 on a Thinkpad Edge E520 - Intel Core i7-2640M 2.8GHZ, 16GB DDR3 RAM 1333MHz
Mageia 2 x86_64, KDE 4.8.5 on a Dell Studio 1555 - Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 2.2GHz, 8GB DDR2 RAM 800MHz

Or from MCC -> Software Management -> Configure media sources for install and update -> File -> Add a specific media mirror -> Full Set of Sources -> OK ;)

Well, which mirror did you select there? You don't have to take the one that is preselected, use one that is reliable, maybe you want to ask others about good & reliable mirrors, but please give a pointer where you're from. I can recommend mandrivauser.de, syncs every two hours and is reliable and fast.

But you choose the same mirror you've had trouble with multiple times so just choose a different one.

Thanks for the tip. I had no idea you could do that in drakrpm-edit-media. :)

Still, just gone to see if there were updates. There were a few and I downlaoded them without hassle.
AS long as it works, it is OK for me. That is all I ask, being a normal user.
I really like the new mageia2. Thank you all

Probably because you cancelled one of the update or repo-add processes, or a repo update currently runs in background, that's why there's still a lock.

Well, kill all the offending processes? Normally it will tell you which process name causes the conflict.
Then killall processname in a terminal and that's it.
