[SOLVED] Empty package? mageia-theme-common

Postby yankee495 » Jun 6th, '12, 05:08

mageia-theme-common-1.5.0.27-1.mga2.noarch.rpm says it contains no files. I also downloaded one and it is indeed empty.

Is this a bug or place holder for future files?

On june 6th version 1.5.0.27-1.mg2 wasn't on any mirror anymore, because it was one of the files replaced as a consequence of https://forums.mageia.org/en/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2647

I received the following updates on June 1st:

Code: Select all

  Default-kde4-config            2            0.20120531.1> noarch
  drakconf                       12.30        1.mga2        noarch
  drakconf-icons                 12.30        1.mga2        noarch
  mageia-gfxboot-theme           4.4.5.7      2.mga2        x86_64
  mageia-kde4-config-common      2            0.20120531.1> noarch
  mageia-release-Default         2            4.mga2        x86_64
  mageia-release-common          2            4.mga2        x86_64
  mageia-theme-Default           1.5.0.28     4.mga2        noarch
  mageia-theme-Default-screensa> 1.5.0.28     4.mga2        noarch
  mageia-theme-common            1.5.0.28     4.mga2        noarch
  mageia-theme-kde-background    1.5.0.28     4.mga2        noarch

And the correct version of that package isn't empty

Code: Select all
ftp://mageia.webconquest.com/distrib/2/x86_64/media/core/updates/mageia-theme-common-1.5.0.28-4.mga2.noarch.rpm
        100% of 9888 completed, ETA = --:--:--, speed = 13912

I have downloaded it twice and mageia-theme-common-1.5.0.28-4.mga2.noarch.rpm also shows as 0 files.

I'll look into it but it appears to be empty and didn't show up on my update list. I used the link you provided.

Thank you.

Well, I'm puzzled. What is your output of
Code: Select all
 rpm -qa | grep mageia-theme-common

The description of the package is "This package contains common images for the Mageia plymouth themes.", I don't think plymouth was changed when the graphic had to be changed, but I might be wrong (I do usually press escape when plymouth kicks in)

Cheers,

Confused, me too. I tried another mirror and still empty. It doesn't seem to cause a problem...I just thought the developers should know because it has a change log...someone put some work into it.

Code: Select all
[john@localhost ~]$ rpm -qa | grep mageia-theme-common
mageia-theme-common-1.5.0.28-4.mga2
[john@localhost ~]$ su root
Password:
[root@localhost john]# rpm -qa | grep mageia-theme-common
mageia-theme-common-1.5.0.28-4.mga2
[root@localhost john]#

rpm -qa only queries all packages, so you will see via grep if a given package is installed or not. Also no need to be root to only query RPM database.
Also this package is not supposed to carry any files, even if the description suggests that, which might be the only small glitch.

Ok Dok,

I'll mark it as solved. I noticed it while finding which rpm had the test pattern for XFdrake.
