[SOLVED] Encrypt partitions.

It's possible to encrypt partitions on Mageia 2 during installation?
I installed Mageia 2 Gnome, but couldn't find this option during the installation process (probably it's my fault ) ...
I used the live CD.

Yes, during custom partitioning, maybe you need to use expert mode or not (don't remember anymore, has been too long ago) and under options you'll find a checkbox for "encrypt", or something along those lines. It definitely is possible, and has been since ages.

Hi, doktor5000.
I installed both Mageia 2 kde and gnome versions.
I looked very carefully, but I didn't find that option.
Maybe because I didn't "create" new partitions, but just "edited" those already present on the disk (I installed Mageia over an already existing Fedora 16).
I act like this not to alter the order of the partitions ...
Anyway, I wasn't able to encrypt the swap, / and /home partitions ...

The diskdrake maintainer just told me that's not possible, as encrypting partitions means to put them inside a luks partition. You could probably change the partition type manually to a LUKS partition and then encrypt them. But see, it's that small detail about existing partitions you didn't give in your original post, which is the important factor ...

Well, it used to be possible with Mageia 1.

And it was still possible after upgrading from Mageia 1 to Mageia 2. Unfortunately the Mageia configuration tools did not work after the upgrade.

I've reinstalled Mageia creating new partitions and was able to encrypt those ...

With Mageia 1 I could setup an encrypted volume group to hold all my partitions with the exception of /boot. Now when I try to install Mageia 2 this way, my Esprimo Mobile V5535 laptop will not boot from the hard disk. It stops before asking for a disk password because it cannot find the root volume.

Less importantly, I cannot setup a wireless or wired network connection during installation (problems occurred during the network connectivity test) although I have no problem when I try to set them up after installation.
