Mageia Control Center

On this new install MCC fails to load either in the command line or GUI. How do I clean this up?

If you have the 64 bit version, it may be this bug that you are experiencing:

it sure looks similar but I am not sure. I have weird package issues going on with another box so I am not going to gamble this one.

Code: Select all
[root@localhost brotherred]# drakconf
/usr/bin/perl: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libDrakX/auto/xf86misc/main/main.so: undefined symbol: Perl_Gthr_key_ptr
[root@localhost brotherred]# mcc
/usr/bin/perl: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libDrakX/auto/xf86misc/main/main.so: undefined symbol: Perl_Gthr_key_ptr
[root@localhost brotherred]#

Regards

Please provide more information, what media did you use to install, was it a fresh installation or an upgrade, did you keep your old /home and did you check the md5sum of the Mageia 2 image and of the used installation media?

Also what do you mean by "weird package issues going on with another box" ?

It is a fresh install and I kept none of the old data. It was a Windows box on NTFS. I can not remember if I did an md5 for this media but I that is my normal practise. By weird package issues I have a 1.8 Gig 586 that I have Peppermint Linux on. I am running Peppermint on it because it screams on that box and Unity Linux (A low end MDV deriv) seems dead. I have been trying to get a vpn set up on that box. When it seemed I had the right packages installed but something might have been mis-configured, a live chat person at PureVPN told me to un-install and re-install the packages that I think I had figured out after a days working on it. Anyway for reasons having only to do with only that system a necessary package refused to re-install. In the end I killed the Internet connection for that box.

It seems logical to trust that this is the same 64bit bug that jkerr82508 was talking about. I am just being chicken.

Well, that is one dependency issue, but if you didn't post/report it, we can't evaluate it or fix it. That's not what i call "some weird issues" ...
So what's the status currently, did you try the solution which is listed in errata for your drakconf problem?

Sorry for any confusion I have not reported any dependency issues with Peppermint here but I am doing that in their forums. As for my MCC issue, the install of Mageia degraded so much that I could not log in or control the mouse if I did log in. I reinstalled. You called it right again doktor5000.

Sorry misread that bit that this was with a Peppermint install. Might be excused, just did ~200 replies within the last few days ... :|

Very excused. And good work. I was just looking back on the situation and I think the install of Magiea that I just over wrote, might have been corrupted when I choose not to continue an upgrade to v2.0 some of the packages that I want were not available so I did not continue. It should have rolled it back to 1. Anyway no real harm done.

So mind to mark the thread as [SOLVED]? Or what is the current status regarding the original problem?
