Ata 1 and 2 failed, and more

Hi and thanks in advance.
I could get beta2 to load by hitting the escape key a lot.... So I switched to OpenSuse. (it installed perfectly and looked very nice) But it seems to be a little slow.
Anyway I waited for Mageia 2 to come out.

The install from the cd seemed to work fine, Except for one warning I would have to load the nonfree driver for my ati card later. OK fine. I continued.

Install said it was complete and thank you.

Now the boot.
ata 2 failed
ata 1 failed
hangs at this point unless I'm quick to hit the escape button

It then continues with an ata 3 failed.

things now seem to continue well enough, loading/starting etc. and a lot of "oks"
Then a fail occurs on monitering hardware.
somemore loads/starts with more "oks"

then starting LSD
started LSD failed
updates some code

continues
something about plymouth gets an ok
then starting LSD is the final command
and I"m hung at a blinking curser.

I hope that makes sense. If not I'll try again.

But any help would be appreciated.
I was fond of Mandriva, but things just got too goofy over there. Opens Suse, works so I can go back there. But I'd rather stay with Mageia if we could get it to work.
