French language

Postby granul » May 15th, '12, 21:33

Hi!

I just installed Mageia 2 RC KDE 64bits, I am trying to set it for french language. So in the control center I add the french, and when I go in system setting/locale I dont see the french language in the language section.

Thank you

What exactly did you do?

Also please show the output of
Code: Select all
rpm -qa | grep locales
in a terminal.

locales-en-2.14.1-3.mga2
locales-2.14.1-3.mga2
locales-fr-2.14.1-3.mga2

I open Mageia Control Center/System/Mangeia Localization for your system so I choose french and click on next I choose Canada for country and I log out and log in but no change.

Did you install from DVD or from one of the LiveCDs?
Also please show the output of
Code: Select all
locale
and
Code: Select all
locale -a

And please use Code-Tags for terminal output and things like that.

Well, you should have installed selecting French language in the installer. On the LiveCDs, during the installation the default setting is to remove unused languages, so if you installed in english, there's no easy way to add French back. You should install using a LiveCD which carries French language, please have a look at http://www.mageia.org/en/2/ for the list of languages.

I installed from Live CD (CD installation did not work with KDE unfrotunately). And I was stupid enough to remove all languages except English. I need French and Russian now. Is there a way to add it without re-installing Mageia 2?

Thanks in advance!

Update: Sorry, got it already. System Tools/Apper, installation of localization files.
Thanks anyway.
