New icon for drakconf

Postby ingvar » May 12th, '12, 19:18

In Mageia 2 appeared new icon for drakconf. It seemed to me not very good. I tried to edit it and suggest a slightly modified version.

Well as with every peace of artwork, that's a matter of personal taste. I myself prefer the one, we have now.
And: if you are interested in artwork and have some skill in that area, why don'tyou join artwork team?

I must agree with ingvar, the new MCC icon is a) ugly and b) not meaning anything - what is it supposed to show, system-setting tool for bridges or crossed tools on an ocean wave?
Yes, it is a matter of individual taste and having not the slightest skills in graphics myself I almost never mention what I think of this or that background or icon. For this icon I make an exception.

I assumed the thing under the tools was a rather squashed letter "M". But looking at it again, I think it's actually the top of a cauldron. I don't find it particularly ugly.

My suggestion would be to have the full cauldron with the tools inside.

Edit: like this maybe?

Oh, at last somebody notices part of our logo!

And by the way, if you think something is ugly and you can do better:
Don't troll arround here but join artwork team

You can troll arround here, but nobody cares!

I think that this is not an ocean wave but it is a part of woman's body.
And it means Search women behind all

That's what I meant - it takes time to recognize what the icon means.

And by the way, if you think something is ugly and you can do better:
Don't troll arround here but join artwork team

1. I expressed my opinion. If you think this is trolling around, I will certainly not continue "trolling around" here any more.
2. If criticising something is only allowed for people who can do better, then I wonder where you will get all the feedback you are asking for.

So try to calm down, will you, even if you may have a bad day.

Please excuse me. First the tone of my comment was absolutely wrong and second, at least you wobo are certainly not the person to criticize.
But people, please: if you do have some skill in artwork, do join artwork team, we've asked again and again for people joining and we do need you.

So please, don't feel bitter about some grumpy comment of mine, I'm human, too and there are times, I am loosing my patience.

Totally understandable and comprehensible.

@Oliver - no bad feelings here. :)
BTW: Are you loosing your patience or are you losing your patience? Image

@Isadora: We are many "one"s and only a few zeros!
