1. Initial configuration:
- a desktop server (Mageia 1 Beta) is configured with a hp 6MP line printer (parallel port)
- a laptop (Mageia 1 Beta) has this printer configured as a remote printer (configuration done with MCC, printer found via network printer search, address of desktop server provided)
- MCC->Hardware->Setup printers immediately comes up with a completely configured hp 6MP printer - looks great and like black magic, but:
- at a close look, the printer is configured as a remote printer on the laptop (where it is a remote printer) - and not as a local printer of the server
- impossible to delete this incorrect configuration from the server (delete button dimmed out for the remote printer)
What happens is quite evident - but can be a nasty trap for an unexperienced user (particularly, since - looking at the MCC printer page - the fact the printer is incorrectly configured is not very visible).
I think that system-config-printer should not automatically configure remote printers that, on the target machine, are already configured as a remote printer.
Except this problem, system-config-printer is now working great!
