Not to me, the /dev/sr1 device is denoted as a DVD-ROM so it should not be able to write
As for the errors in English, I always try my best, but in a GUI how am I supposed to switch it?
LC_ALL=C k3b
That's an odd configuration that i doubt anyone but you has tried.linuxero wrote:First of all, I am having this problem for years now with all the distros I work with. However; I am always using these external burners in Windows and they work seamlessly.
So; this burner was an internal one of a laptop that I took out and put in a case to connect it externally through usb.
It is a DVD writer, of course it is capable of burning cd's too. I wonder why K3b detects it as DVD-ROM! But in the second snap-shot you can see that DVD+RW is there.
Ken-Bergen wrote:The DV-28E-C is as alf said a read only device. If MCC > Local disks reports it as such it's a hardware detection issue not a K3B issue.
You could and should make a bug report listing what it's seen as and what it actually is as well as the fact that it's being used as external USB drive.
linuxero wrote:Guys; it's not read-only!! Besides, supposing it is read-only for DVD's, and it is not, why shouldn't K3B be able to burn CD'd using it?!

Until you tell us what it actually is no one can help you.
