Postby notas » Mar 4th, '12, 13:41

Hello!
I burned a disk with Mageia 1, i booted it and i selected Install Mageia 1, It loads, but when it colors the third circle [the loading circles], it stops.
I even tryed restaring and booting from verbose mode. It stops later. Same thing happens when i try to use "Boot Mageia 1".

Just press "Esc" key during bootup, any obvious error messages you can spot, and what's the last lines before it stops?
Also some more information would be appreciated, could you at least post what graphics chip your machine has?

I mentioned I pressed ESC during startup,
The last line I see when it stops is:
Starting udev: _
Nothing more happens.

Could you please tell exactly which Mageia image you used, and have you checked the md5sum of the iso file and your burned image?

BTW: needlessly bumping a thread in this timeframe is disregarded and won't raise the chances of someone answering.

I have checked.
I used:
Code: Select all
$ md5sum mageia-livecd-1-GNOME-europe1-americas-cdrom-i586.iso
be86c06cc4ad27b0ae36f673ddbfc489

Or if you are talking about the ISO file name, it's mageia-livecd-1-GNOME-europe1-americas-cdrom-i586.iso.

Yeah, but what about the md5sum of the burned disk?

OK, could you please tell some more details about your machine? What model is it, desktop or laptop,
what mainboard if it's a desktop and are there any specialties about your setup?

Have you tried some of the more common boot options like https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BootO ... el_Options ?

Yeah, it's obvious to me that it's a laptop :)

But what is the exact Pavilion G6 submodel? Normally you'll see that underneath
your laptop, there should be a sticker with the serial number and more details.

Also, you said you already tried common boot options, could you please list which you already have tested?

Verbose Mode.
Boot Mageia 1.
Boot Mageia 1 Installation.

The sticker says:
[serial number]
Windows (R) Home Prem OA
And a certificate.
Also, I can't seem to find the submodel.

My Mageia DVD looks like this:

Sorry, but it's not really relevant how your CD looks like. Also when i asked you for the
common boot option from the above link, you said yes, still you haven't tried any of them ...

Please show the output as root of
Code: Select all
dmidecode
in a Code-block.
Maybe you need to install the package dmidecode if it says "command not found".
