Networkmanager update

Postby pmithrandir » Mar 3rd, '12, 13:33

Hello.

I'm using Networkmanager on my laptop.
This morning, there was an update, and since that point I can't restart networkmanager service.
I tried on the CCM, and with the command :
/etc/init.d/networkmanager start
or systemctl start networkmanager.

CCM doesn't works
Init.d freeze and do nothing
the lastone doesn't works at all, I got an error that said that network manager was not valid.

Do you know how to update it ?
Pierre

As I mentioned in my post viewtopic.php?f=15&t=1992#p14605 in #2 (wifi unable to connect).

I didn't make the connection.
For me it's the ethernet connection taht is broken, and the wifi also because without network manager none of them works.

Any idea on how to repair it ?
Without network, I can't expect any updates...

I just did the following with wifi

1. In MCC -> Network I removed all listed connections
2. In MCC -> I created a new wifi connection, leaving the "handled by networkmanager" option unmarked
3. starting the connection the mcc gives a "failed" result but that's wrong. Wifi came up and is still stable now (after 20 minutes)

I did newest updates via wifi and will reboot now (keeping my fingers crossed as if this was some magician's gig)

After reboot wifi came up nicely and stays up. So, my solution is to disable networkmanager.

Hi.
I tried to unchecked in my ethernet connection the "manage by networkmanager" and it works now. I get the connection.

Of course, knetworkmanager is lost, but I will wait the next updates to enable it again.

Thanks

Same symptoms here. Probably something to do with dbus since I get timeouts "[system] Failed to activate service 'org.freedesktop.NetworkManager': timed out".

During the previous 3 weeks we had so many construction sites (dbus, systemd, udisks, plus the KDE issues) that it is far over my head to try to relate one single not working function to one single cause. Testing Cauldron changed to the daily question: what will break today?
