KDE 4.8 is very compelling

I usually install both KDE and Gnome then pretty
much stay in Gnome. But KDE 4.8 is really compelling.
Looking really fine on M2B1.

Yes, there has been a significant speed increase since 4.7 (in my opinion). And if you change from Kwin to Openbox, it's blazingly fast ...
KDE1 was my first DE back in 98. Altough I tried all the other ones, I always come back after some time ....

I got really introduced to Linux back about the same time
when the project I was on got switched from Solaris to
Mandrake(Mandriva). Our development platforms were KDE.
A long long time ago, far far away.

I was also impressed by 4.8 version of KDE.

launcher seemed to be more stable also.

On my side, i replaced almost all icons by launcher now. Because I have 2 monitor, I use 2 task bars also, and it works really without any issue.

I got 3 issues :
- In wallpaper diaporama mode, the systeme doesn't use Exif orientation : bug already reported upstream.
- When you lanche a research (for exemple on php.ini) in a dolphin tab and you close it, the reseach is not stoppped.(even if nobody can see the result).
- The wallpaper diaporama use a lot ntfs3g, and cpu, when openning big images(4-8MB) from ntfs partition.

but all main function works fine.

A small question : Do you have firefox in internet submenu ? I have it in favorite only for a while.

That's no KDE problem, this is a problem specific to your setup. Copy the images over to your linux home partition and let it use those.

hum, sorry, but linux is able to open a file of 4-8MB every 30 seconds on ntfs... and I don't have enough place on my KDE partition.
It's not normal that the CPU for ntfs3g goes to 20-30% just for that... (dual core...)

It was not a way for me to report a bugs, just a global images of the kind of issue you can get(really secondary)

Yes, it is normal, depending on fragmentation level and how filled that ntfs partition is. ntfs-3g uses quite a lot of cpu power.
Again, i repeat it, that's not a bug, and certainly not a KDE one, but resulting from your setup.
