Does my machine need swap for the amount of RAM i have?

Information:

Dell Precision Pro 470 Workstation
2x Intel Xeon 3.0Ghz (Hyperthreaded) (12ghz Total)
16x DDR2 ECC RAM (Overclocked)
1GB Nvidia Geforce GDDR2 Graphics
32" Samsung Monitor

Depends if you want to use something like suspend or hibernation, that would require swap, but in general you can do fine without it.
I'm also using my laptop with 4GB RAM (BTW you wrote 16x [...] RAM, seems you meant to write 16GB RAM, no?) without swap.
