[SOLVED] Odd Mouse Behaviour at Edge of Screen

Postby fomanush » Feb 7th, '12, 01:41

Hi Guys,

I have just installed Mageia 1 (KDE) and have noticed some odd mouse pointer behaviour at the bottom right edge of the screen.

When the mouse pointer if pushed off the screen in the bottom right corner it returns half way up the screen and not at the exact location where it originally left the screen.

Also if I place the mouse pointer half on/ off the right side of the screen and go down, the pointer refuses to go below a certain point and teleports/ reappears halfway up the screen.

Please let me know if you require any further information and where I can get this info from the OS (as I m new to Linux).

Thanks in advance

Manush

Hello!
I have no direct solution..

Is the mouse behaving the same way in windows (if you use this system also)
Have you tried the mouse it other Mageia desktops, e.g. Gnome or XFCE
I have a mouse, and used without a proper mouse pad, it behaves somewhat wild.

I have a similar issue, except the mouse doesn't jump, it will hang momentarily if I move it to the lower right corner of the screen. It's not a huge issue for me, but it's quite strange ;) I think it started after the massive "post DVD-install upgrade" (I just installed Mageia a few days ago).

Hi Guys,

I got this issue resolved at the Chakra Linux forum (I had the same problem with Chakra as well).

The issue was the incorrect detection/ enabling of multiple screens on my setup, even though I only have one screen.

Below is the response from tetris4 on the Chakra forums:

There is your issue, you have 6 screens enabled.

Section "ServerLayout"
Identifier "X.org Configured"
Screen 0 "Screen0" 0 0
Screen 1 "Screen1" RightOf "Screen0"
Screen 2 "Screen2" RightOf "Screen1"
Screen 3 "Screen3" RightOf "Screen2"
Screen 4 "Screen4" RightOf "Screen3"
Screen 5 "Screen5" RightOf "Screen4"
EndSection

Am guessing you only got 1 screen, so if you delete all 1-5 screens and just keep the 0 one, this issue should be resolved.

My specs are as follows if that may help Mangeia find the source of the problem:

CPU - AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE
Graphic - 2 x ATI HD4850 (with CrossFire clip connected)
Memory - G Skill 8G(2x4G) DDR3 1333MHZ PC3-10666 CL9(8GBRL)
Motherboard - Asus M4A89GTD-Pro AM3 890GX
Monitor - 1 x Samsung SynMaster 2243BW

Thanks
