Bluetooth Mouse

Postby oldcodger » May 8th, '11, 17:52

I am having an intermittent problem with my Logitech Mouse & Hub. When booting up I have to wait a few seconds for the mouse to become usable. This also happens with my USB keyboard but to a lesser extent. If I leave either too long before using them then I have to reboot to get them working. I have checked dmesg and syslog but cannot find anything relating to the problem. It doesn't happen with Mandriva 2010.2. However Mandriva doesn't seem to use the bluetooth subsystem for the mouse.
Any ideas would be most welcome please?
Also if this is in the wrong section, please move it.
Thank You.

A shot in the dark, try disabling speedboot; when booting, at the GRUB screen press F3 select "default" then press Enter, in the command line that appears type:
Code: Select all
speedboot=no

then press Enter.

Thank you Ahmad.
I tried your suggestion but that just stopped my USB keyboard from activating. I got the mouse but not the keyboard.
If I did failsafe, init 3, login and startx then I got keyboard but no mouse because kbluetooth never started.
Another thing I have noticed is the rechargeable batteries run out quicker. I suppose that's because it keeps re-connecting to the bluetooth sybsystem or something like that.
I'll just have to remember to put the mouse on the charger when not using it. :)

Sorry for not answering before now, but I have been trying to track down the problem and other issues besides Mageia & computers. I tried the speedboot suggestion, but all that did was stop the wacom tablet working. I am still trying a couple of things, but they take a reboot to see if there is any difference. That is like working with Windows again. :?
What I have found out so far is that near the end of the boot up kde restarts its bluetooth subsystem and that is why I have to wait for the mouse to register again. If I don't operate the mouse then it does not register. I now have a work around for that little problem. I wouldn't say it was a bug as the bluetooth system works quite well even for my phone, which it never has done before. The receiver for the mouse is also a bluetooth hub and I can connect other devices through it. The only other thing is the batteries don't last as long as the mouse has to keep registering. If I remember to put the mouse on the charger every time I leave the room then it gets charged up as I go along.
Rather than report a bug when it doesn't seem to be one I will soldier on and maybe find a better answer.

Thank you for the suggestions.
