Reset KDE interface

Hi,

It seems that KDE with this holidays release is broken on my computer.

No more icons on my desktop, no more control bar on the bottom... just the right button allow me to use konsole and to start firefox.

Do you know how to reset the KDE configuration to the default ? I will start from scratch my configuration.

PS : no more access on the mailing list archive... I don't know if there is currently a subject regarding this issue.

Hi!

To get a default KDE, delete in

USER/.kde4/share/config/

plasma-desktop-appletsrc
plasma-desktoprc
plasmarc

logout and login again.


But I think, you don't need to switch back to a default KDE4.

First try to switch back to the desktop view with the right click menue.
Then you can unlock the widgets, and add a new panel (use "standard panel", so you don't have to configure too much).

Mailinglists are online again, but the web frontends/archives are still missing yet.

Hi,

I tried to remove all 3 files, and it works now.
The only probleme is that I got the KDE default interface and not the mageia one.

I will try to set it up these days.

I think it would be a interesting option in the MCC(or KDE setting) to allow the user to come back to the default configuration.
Useful in case of misconfiguration, or when you want to reset your computer to give it to someone else.(without any knowledge of the KDE plasma configuration)
