[Solved] Genius TVGo DVB-T03

Postby hviaene » Jul 30th, '14, 11:28

I have installed Mageia5 Alpha on a HP Probook 6555b, with above Tv receiver connected.
In MCC - Hardwarde under Unknown, the device is shown twice, once as "TVGo DVB-T03" with driver dvb_usb_rtl28xxu, the second time as "Genius TVGo DVB-T03" with driver kbd.
Is this matter fro a bug report?

Can you post the output from
Code: Select all
lspcidrake -v

Maybe the second one is only some pseudo device for controlling it via a remote, hence the keyboard driver is listed for that one.

Please mark the thread accordingly by editing the topic of the first post and prefix it by [SOLVED], thanks.

lspcidrake only displays it once. You can report it as a cosmetic bug, I'm not sure why it's shown twice in harddrake.

Having it recognized in MCC is one thing, but being able to use it is another one.
When I start the PC with the receiver connected, nothing works, the scan command gives me "Device or resource busy", and wscan "No proper terrestrial card found".
When I start the PC with the receiver unplugged, and then plug, the command "scan /usr/share/dvb/dvb-t/it-All" find the channels on which there are programs broadcasted here in Belgium.
Code: Select all

And xine says "No valid channels.conf found"
And yes, I made my user in the group video.

Please show the output of the following commands as root
Code: Select all
journalctl -ab | grep -i -e dvb -e fw
rpm -qa | grep firmware | sort

Also for more information on your receiver see http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/G ... Go_DVB-T03 (seems you have the Realtek RTL2832 version)

Logs look good. Seems you need to investigate yourself, have a look at the linuxtv wiki page which I've linked to previously.

After rebooting I tried to run me-tv, and at least the device seems to be recognized OK, but there is another problem for which I'll open up a new thread

If the device is not able to scan correctly, there's no use trying out some TV application.
Please try again to search for the channels available in your country. In one of the posts above you searched using Italian definitions. I might be wrong, but you probably want to use /usr/share/dvb/dvb-t/be-All for scanning
Code: Select all
[doktor5000@Mageia4 ~]$ cat /usr/share/dvb/dvb-t/be-All
# Belgium, whole country
# Created from http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVB-T-frequenties
# T freq bw fec_hi fec_lo mod transmission-mode guard-interval hierarchy

Done.

As you can see, the same channels are found, and I can assure you the list is correct and complete.

FYI, what is not solved, is that the device is NOT correctly recognized when it is connected at boot. I have to boot without the device, and then plug it in once the system has been fully started.

Reason: Command-output placed between [CODE]-tags, for better readability. ;)

As of Alpha 2, the device can be used when plugged in at startup.
