[SOLVED] Upgrade prompt?

Postby rwilson » Dec 3rd, '19, 05:27

A few months ago I upgraded from Magia 5 to Magia 6 and then immediately to Mageia 7. I've kept the system up to date, but am now getting prompts to upgrade to Mageia 7. Is this normal?

What do the commands "cat /etc/release" and "urpmq --list-url|head -n 3" show?

Code: Select all
ls -l /var/lib/urpmi

In that list there's a file named "stale_upgrade_in_progress". That gets left behind if the upgrade applet is terminated before the upgrade has finished, to indicate it should have another go. If you are satisfied that your system is fully upgraded, you can delete that file (you'll need root user privileges to do so).

If you want to check if you have any non-upgraded packages, try
Code: Select all
rpm -qa | grep -v mga7

I guess the upgrade never finished because that command returned 759 package names. Looks like I have an upgrade to finish. I wander why it took a few months before I started getting the prompt.

Thank you for your help.
