Thank you sooooo much for your suggestion! It turns out NetworkManager was not enabled in Mageia Control Centre. But the firewall wasn't a problem. I'm writing this email using the tethered connection! Hurray!

Could have been solved a long time if you would have simply copy&pasted the command from the wiki.

Oh, I had done that alright! Only, apparently, it wasn't enough... I have no idea why, but I did as I have been told all along. I only came here to be guided by those who are much more experienced than I.

Nope, in your command you wrote Networkmanager but it should have been NetworkManager, that's why you got the error
Failed to enable unit: Unit file Networkmanager.service does not exist.
