[SOLVED] Updates

I have just run the liveCD of Mageia, and checked the number of updates.

It tells me that there are already 448 updates to install. But Mageia has only been out for a few months! Will it carry on with this many to install, or is this special to cure the bugs?

Just wondering.

I have selected:

the core release and updates
the nonfree release and updates
the tainted release and updates

So I don't think that I am getting anything from couldron.

First updates after a fresh install include quite a pack of packages, that's right and not unusual for all kinds of distributions.
After this you even won't see updates for days, and a handful when there are.
Your selection of repositories is just fine. Some illustrative information can be found at:

A big bunch would be already KDE, which should be something like 150-200 packages altogehter.
