Why make it so complicated and not simply install it as flatpak? https://flathub.org/apps/com.skype.Client
There you can also see the most recent version: 8.108.0.205

Also the script seems to rely on the fact that ~/Downloads/ exists, which might not be the case depending on if you renamed the standard folders to your locale.
Should probably be changed to download to ${XDG_DOWNLOAD_DIR}/ instead.

Thanks a lot, and I agree that Flatpak is the best solution, but you should tell Paul Blackburn / codegazer / wikigazer, he's promoting this sync_skype_urpmi hack in the Mageia wiki and even in this thread. That's very misleading!

I posted the link to our german wiki page for installation of Skype. As a dnf compatible repo exists, it is an additional way besides flatpak.It is easy to update and install Skype via DNF.

Codegazer unfortunately loves to make things complicated…. You can try to convince him to change „his“ english wiki page regarding Skype…good luck!

Yes I use Skype installation and upgrade via M$ repo (via dnf) for Linux for couple of years. The same with M$ Edge and VS Code for IoT development.
