[SOLVED]Weather applet has gone away

Postby nigelc » Jun 15th, '20, 09:50

Hi,
On the Mate desktop the weather applet has gone away. If I click on the clock applet it shows the weather with a tick on it. However it does not work.
Thanks in advance.

Are you referring to the standalone weather applet, or the weather that is shown within the default clock applet ?

Can you please post the output as regular user of
Code: Select all
gsettings set org.mate.panel

For the standalone weather applet, please keep in mind that the applet will only show a "-" sign if no current location is set or if data could not be updated.
From what I can see the weather data provider seems to be unreachable:
Jun 15 10:04:16 Mageia7VM mateweather-app[2298]: Failed to get IWIN forecast data: 404 Not Found

Apart from that, the weather applet seems to have issues sometimes: https://github.com/mate-desktop/mate-panel/issues/603

Code: Select all
gsettings set org.mate.panel

This referring to the applet that comes with the clock. On the top mate panel.

Sorry, copy&paste issue, should be
Code: Select all
gsettings list-recursively org.mate.panel

FWIW, I tried both on a fresh MATE installation, and neither one of them showed weather data.
The standalone one failed with the error message already posted, and the one integrated with the clock did not show any weather data after adding my location, even after several refreshes.

Can't really help much further. Although the guys over at Mint all have the same issue: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic. ... 6&t=320757
Seems that the weather service they're using for the applets has changed API and they're working on a server outage, from what I understood.
You can follow upstream bugreport: https://github.com/mate-desktop/libmate ... /issues/80

Well now it's come back.
The applet is working fine and I have done nothing.
The temp in Sydney is 17 ° C
Cheers.
