Wireless connection works only after rfkill unblock

Postby jeevanism » Aug 25th, '19, 19:34

Hello All,

I installed Mageia 7.1 and everything went smooth and running. But the network applet is not listing any active wireless connections unless I manually run
Code: Select all
rfkill unblock all
command. I have to do this in each booting into system. Is there any way to fix this ?

my system details :
Code: Select all
5.2.7-desktop-1.mga7

Code: Select all
Network:   Device-1: Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11ac PCIe Wireless Network Adapter driver: rtl8821ce
IF: wlp1s0 state: up mac: b0:fc:36:c9:64:a1
Device-2: Realtek RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet driver: r8169
IF: enp2s0 state: down mac: e8:6a:64:39:4e:4d

Thank you for the help

Can you please post the output of lsmod on a clean boot, before you run rfkill unblock all ?

Full info not so much in that you forgot to add the actual lsmod output.

Sorry for the delay ( I went to try many other distros - Manjaro, Deepin, KaOS, Fedora 32, OpenMandriva 4.1 ) and today I installed the Mag7.1 again since each of the earlier listed distros gave me difficulty for daily usage. Only OpenMandriva detected my WiFi card.

my lsmod output as below

Re: Wireless connection works only after rfkill unblock

I'd try to blacklist either ideapad_laptop or wmi_bmof, or maybe even both if only one doesn't help.

You could also ask upstream about this: https://github.com/tomaspinho/rtl8821ce/issues

I will try the blacklist option. I am back using Mag7 as my daily distro again
