Try installing it from the command line with urpmi. You'll get useful error messages then.

Hi, yumex-dnf indeed can't be installed on Cauldron. The same applies to dnfdragora since some time now.

looks like here is where you need to do some digging.
try to install that python package by itself :
Code: Select all
# urpmi python3-dn
(+ tab)
this will search for all available python3-dn packages.
if any are available you need to choose one < than version 4.0.
if none are available, then you can either wait until that package is updated (in cauldron should only be a few days) or google search for a .rpm of the required package, and install at your own risk.

hi, benmc
Thanks, but
"urpmi python3 -dn" reported that it is already installed. Yet I'm unable to run yumex...
Will wait for an update

most probably, urpmi --allow-force will work.

It will install the package in spite of the dependency issue, and you are likely to find that the dependency issue is wrong and your later version of python-dnf will work.

This is not assured, but there is a good chance.

There were more dependencies to "force", but finally I got it to work

I clean installed Magei 7 (again) Gnome within VirtualBox inside Windows 7, and (fully) updated the system (some 490 packages)
I , then, tried to install yumex and got the following error:

Sorry, the following package cannot be selected:

- yumex-dnf-4.3.3-3.mga7.noarch (due to unsatisfied python(abi)[== 3.6])

I looks like a different problem from what was reported in my first call
Please advise

Report a bug for it, as it seems to be reproducible and the package seems to need an rebuild, same as other packages probably. Same with your cinnamon thread.
