New kernel doesn't hibernate

Since installation of the latest kernel 4.14.89-desktop-1.mga6 my laptop doesn't want to hibernate anymore. When I try (by closing the lid) I get

Dec 27 10:02:25 localhost systemd[1]: Stopped target Sleep.

And the laptop stays 'on'.
Using an older kernel 4.14.78-desktop-1.mga6 it does hibernate.

The laptop is a HP Elitebook 820 G1 (i5-4310U, 8GiB memory) running the XKDE desktop.

Any ideas how to troubleshoot this?

According to the messages one of your USB devices seems to not respond properly and errors out, not sure if this is the cause but might be worth checking by unplugging all USB devices and trying again. Although this won't help if any of the internal devices are attached via USB.

You may want to look at the logs for systemd-hibernate.service via
Code: Select all
systemctl status -al -n250 systemd-hibernate.service

( -n250 will show the last 250 lines of journal logs for that unit, increase this as necessary)
