HP 6700 landscape print in duplex mode cut off at left side

I've never used an HP device but hooked it to my desktop running Mageia release 6 (Official) for x86_64 with a USB cable. For more than 15 years, I've run various Brother MFC on Linux, so I've got some sense of using CUPS admin page, for example, and printing from a variety of applications.

Here's the relevant specification from the hplip page, https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imag ... ices/index

Model Name: HP OfficeJet 6700 Premium E-all-in-one printer-h711n
Min. HPLIP Version: 3.12.4
Driver Plug-in: No
Support Level: Full
Print Mode: Color
Scan to PC: Yes
PC Send Fax: Yes
Connectivity: USB, Network

The LO document that won't print correctly is a 4-page landscape with a 2-column table into which I paste screenshots of the comic panels from a local newspaper. I've successfully printed this document about 3 times a week for about a year with my previous Brother MFC. An example is attached that has the first two pages and a blank I can't remove in LO, separate irritation, as the full doc is too large. A scan of a print job with left truncation is also attached.

The truncation is happening when I try to print in duplex mode, either short-edge flip or long-edge. If I print the same document as single-sided, it prints correctly. There is some mysterious, to me, "Installable Options" in printerdrake that shows a checkbox next to a line containing "Duplexer installed", which I've checked. My hope is someone familiar with hplip has a clue.

I've tried many setup attempts to try to solve this left-truncated landscape print problem. I believe I might have first used printerdrake, hp-setup from CLI, and on the CUPS admin page, thinking choice of driver was relevant but, at any rate, many seemingly relevant packages, including hplip*, were automatically installed for me:

In the unlikely event someone else comes here in a search on such a problem, I'll pass along the results of some further investigation, ppd editing, and testing that show me I'm wasting my time, at the thread I started in the HP support forums: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-S ... -p/6588313
