sound issues/no sound at all

Postby mageiauser2018 » Dec 26th, '17, 15:41

Hi guys!

I have been reading several articles concerning sound issues but I am unable to find a suitable solution.

I have at first had sound issues in some videos after updating to Mageia 6.
Now after a longer time I have no sound at all any more.

I have restored sound configuration to default, there are no alternative drivers available.

And these are the information I gained from the bug fixing:
Pulse audio seems to be running:
Code: Select all
ps aux | grep pulseaudio
don       3073  0.7  0.1 379408 11276 ?        S<sl 10:46   1:38 /usr/bin/pulseaudio
don      25429  0.0  0.0  14012  2224 pts/1    S+   14:34   0:00 grep --color pulseaudio

Code: Select all
pactl stat
Momentane Nutzung: 1 Blöcke mit insgesamt 63,9 KB Bytes.
Während gesamter Laufzeit: 608871 Blöcke mit insgesamt 1,3 GB Bytes.
Sample-Pufferspeichergrösse: 0 B
Server String: unix:/run/user/1000/pulse/native

Default Source: alsa_input.pci-0000_00_1b.0.analog-stereo

Maybe this is helpful:
Code: Select all
/usr/sbin/lsmod | grep snd
snd_hda_codec_hdmi     53248  1
snd_hda_codec_realtek    90112  1
snd_hda_codec_generic    73728  1 snd_hda_codec_realtek
snd_hda_intel          40960  4
snd_hda_codec         135168  4 snd_hda_codec_realtek,snd_hda_codec_hdmi,snd_hda_codec_generic,snd_hda_intel
snd_hda_core           65536  5 snd_hda_codec_realtek,snd_hda_codec_hdmi,snd_hda_codec_generic,snd_hda_codec,snd_hda_intel
snd_hwdep              16384  1 snd_hda_codec
snd_pcm               122880  4 snd_hda_codec_hdmi,snd_hda_codec,snd_hda_intel,snd_hda_core
snd_timer              32768  1 snd_pcm
snd                    86016  16 snd_hda_codec_realtek,snd_hwdep,snd_timer,snd_hda_codec_hdmi,snd_pcm,snd_hda_codec_generic,snd_hda_codec,snd_hda_intel
soundcore              16384  1 snd

This might be important says that the file does not exist!
/usr/sbin/fuser -v /dev/snd/pcm* /dev/dsp

If there is no solution I would like to uninstall Mageia and reinstall hoping that this will solve the problem somehow.
Everything else is working fine.

If you need more information, please give me instructions on how to access them and then I will copy them here.
I will be grateful for any help (also links to other explanations are welcome)

What did you do in particular to restore the sound configuration to default '?

No that's totally irrelevant as those are old commands as /dev/dsp was basically only used with OSS.

All that seems to work as it should, which leads me to think the settings problem is in KDE, not in the hardware.

Your driver is correctly loaded. Most likely just an intel_HD thing. Check alsamixer.

Also check input/output in KDE sound settings, and further KDE sound mixer settings. What is the issue exactly? Have you ever had sound on this installation? Is this the first time you install THIS system? Did it work before (Megeia 5?)

How about dmesg and journalctl -b output?
