[SOLVED]Cron isn't mailing me after jobs complete

Postby ca-on-adam » Oct 1st, '16, 02:41

Hi,

I have a cron job that I am running as a normal user, and I believe that I'm supposed to get a mail upon each completion of that job. I am guessing that mail software is not installed by default. Can somebody recommend a package or package set that will get this working for me?

Are you talking about classic mail like in mail to a user via a mailbox file, or are you talking about an email to your external email provider which you can read in your email client?

I am talking about the classic mail, sent to the user on the local system.

You need to install an MTA such as dma:

Is dma the default MTA for Mageia?

I don't think that there's a default MTA as such. Historically postfix has been preferred, but postfix is a bit of overkill if all you want to do is receive mails from cron, MSEC etc. DMA is now commonly recommended for that.
