wps-office on mga6sta1

Postby romi8 » Jul 18th, '16, 09:45

Hi,

i recently installed maga6sta1 xfce from netinstall without any issues; Everything working fine ( even spotify, with the "how to " on this forum ). Only installing wps-office fails; when i start ./wps from CLI i get the message
libpng warning: Application jmp_buf size changed
./wps: line 38: 2847 Segmentation fault (core dumped) ${gInstallPath}/office6/${gApp} ${gOptExt} ${gOpt} "$@"
[g

I tried both install from repo and the tar file with the same result. I already spent some time googling without any good advise.
Some suggestions ?
Appreciate, thanks

Haven't tested on sta1 yet, but have you tried downloading the .rpm file (they JUST recently released a21) from wps and installing via urpmi? This worked for me always with 5, and I plan on trying to get 6sta1 installed again this week so will be testing again (assuming I'm successful).

Thanks for the reply, I already downloaded the .rpm file and installed it with " software-installer ". I'll give it another try this evening and install with urpmi, if this couldmake a difference.

No, software installer uses urpmi under the hood. You'd need need a newer WPS build which works with mga6.

I installed the file with urpmi :
Code: Select all
# urpmi /home/gc/Downloads/wps-office-10.1.0.5672-1.a21.x86_64.rpm

Everything installed but whenI start from menu nothing happens, when I start from cli :
Code: Select all
$ wps
libpng warning: Application jmp_buf size changed
/usr/bin/wps: line 38: 26995 Segmentation fault      (core dumped) ${gInstallPath}/office6/${gApp} ${gOptExt} ${gOpt} "$@"

No improvement so far, I checked dependencies but as far as I can see everything should be there.
Does this problem also occur with someone else ?
Thanks for any advice.

I've got an imaged USB stick setting right beside my laptop that I'm going to try installing on again. I will try installing WPS on it also. From what little testing I have tried, I know a21 will not work on Debian Stretch nor Fedora 24 currently. I'm willing to bet there's a major issue with a21.

One more information : I had a usb stick with openmandriva LX3rc1 live on it. In the live version i installed the wps a21 rpm file. Installation went very fast ( 5" ) and wps-office is working, starting from the menu, at least the wordprocessor, I didn't try the rest. I will make a live usb with mageia 6sta1 KDE plasma and do the same test, just to see if it could have something to do with my installation ( netinstall- xfce desktop ).
To be continued.

Well, I guess I won't be able to test. I simply cannot get sta1 to install (correctly) on my test machine. I was able to get it to install a bootloader with a new image, but it simply boots to a recovery console. Oh well, guess I'll wait for sta2 to test Mageia.

Please create a bug report for this, if you have not already done so.
As per viewtopic.php?f=15&t=10947, please add "sta1" to the "keyword" window after you have created the report.

Your hardware may be unique, and the developers can only fix issues that they are advised of.
