[SOLVED]Black screen after boot Live-DVD Mageia 5

Postby linsspinho » Aug 3rd, '15, 02:30

Hello, people from Mageia!

I have problem trying to boot from live-DVD on my laptop - Intel chipset and Intel graphic card, that was recognized by Centos as i915 Intel driver.

I have tried several commands on boot, kernel line, like rdblacklist=all possible, xdriver=intel, xdriver=vesa, rdblacklist=fglrx xdriver=intel, apm=off, acpi=off, acpi=force.

I have tried boot to run level 3, no luck. I have tried boot with battery only power, with power adapter plugged etc. I don't know how many times a reboot for a different set of commands.

After all tries, I think the problem seems to be power management, It seems the installation turns off the backlight completely after boot splash. I realized that 'cos I could see the first window from installation(maybe agreement screen) from the very black screen background.

So you see the bootloader, select an entry like "Install Mageia" and then you shortly see the bootsplash and then it goes dark?
Please try the tips from https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Mageia_3_Err ... regression
and please provide some more information on mainboard model/manufacturer or if it's a laptop provide the exact model&type.

Please, use [CODE]-tags where appropriate.
This keeps the whole thing readable, thank you. :)

FWIW, for the boot DVD you used, did you verify the md5 checksum? Maybe you can also try a different boot media, probably normal installation to check if it has the same issues.
