[DONE] Software install - can't figure it out

Postby crazynewbie » Jun 21st, '15, 19:32

When I click on the software install program it only shows software that already on my computer, even if I hit refresh. Does that mean there's no software than what installed when I installed? The other Linux I tried using had other software. Am I doing something wrong? Please help.

Lol  http://fossforce.com/2015/06/a-look-at-mageia-5s-magic/

So please never use RTFM ;) - I never read it before here and in my opinion all new users are warmly welcomed here and at least directed to the correct wiki pages. So you see, good support will count. Thanks dok5000 (but also all others) for their support...

If you ask a question in a normal way, you will usually get an unbiased answer ... maybe not the most friendly or polite one, but one that helps.
But "Politely and to the point" - I like her judgement. ^^

Nevertheless "read the friendly manual" is also not a bad answer. All I know about linux I basically taught myself.
Just by reading the friendly manual - and other manuals. Somewhere along the way, manuals got lost. But a little bit friendliness still lurks around :P

As newbie you are often lost about where to find information.
Or what a specific symptom mean.
Being pointed to a source and chapter is a great help :)

Until there is a global billion dollar company behind a linux distro, RTFM is kind of expected. We're all volunteers, so it's our time and knowledge we give away. Just like an intern who keeps asking low level questions get's ejected, it's the same here. Resources arn't unlimited unfortunately.
