[SOLVED]Update Mess (Mageia 4 Fresh Install)

Postby novsky » Apr 10th, '15, 19:16

Hi guys.

It's probably because it's my first time using the update manager for Mageia, but this far, it's been a mess.

1. I've selected a mirror when asked.
2. Before starting updates, I had to click through tens of popup windows with text something like: 'please select package' and it was something libreoffice related.
3. Then I get the following message:

Code: Select all
You can't choose following packages:

- audacity-2.0.6-1.mga4.x86_64 (zaradi neizpolnjene odvisnosti liblilv-0.so.0()(64bit))
- filezilla-3.10.2-1.mga4.x86_64 (zaradi neizpolnjene odvisnosti libwx_baseu_net-2.9.so.5()(64bit))
- lib64avcodec55-2.0.6-1.mga4.tainted.x86_64 (zaradi neizpolnjene odvisnosti libxvidcore.so.4()(64bit))
- lib64mesagl1-10.0.5-1.1.mga4.tainted.x86_64 (zaradi neizpolnjene odvisnosti lib64txc-dxtn)
- mencoder-1.1.1-3.r36361.3.mga4.tainted.x86_64 (zaradi neizpolnjene odvisnosti libxvidcore.so.4()(64bit))
- mesa-10.0.5-1.1.mga4.tainted.x86_64
- mplayer-1.1.1-3.r36361.3.mga4.tainted.x86_64 (zaradi neizpolnjene odvisnosti libdca.so.0()(64bit))
- pidgin-plugins-2.10.11-1.mga4.x86_64

This is the repo list:

Now, what exactly am I doing wrong, because as I've been informed through various articles, Mageia is supposed to be automated& plug and play as it gets- What have I done to destroy this automation and to cause such conundrum?

Thanks a lot for your help in advance, magicians;) !

edit:

It seems I didn't add tainted-core and nonfree-core. But there was an issue with a mirror downloading the repo information, because it took ages. After that, it didn't even show the repos on the list.

Hi there,

actually your issue is pretty simple :)
You can't enable only the update repositories, and disable the "Core Release" repository which is highlighted in your screenshot,
as all updates usually require some of the base packages.

Please check https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Installing_a ... rrectly.3F
it shows which repositories should be enabled as a starting point. You're missing all the "Release" repositories apart from Nonfree Release.

Thanks doc.

Still working my way around the MCC, exploring. Will get a hang of it soon.

Now if only I'd mange to get subpixel hinting on the fonts :) If I don't make it, expect another thread.
