What filesystem for a fresh install?

Postby deshmukh » Aug 31st, '14, 18:59

I will be installing Mageia on a fresh bootable partition. What is the 'best' filesystem that I should choose?

I am looking at something that will be stable and fast. Also, should be usable by a newbie like me.

I have used ext4 but have heard a lot of good things about btrfs and some others.

Lastly, my system will have a separate /home on a separate ext4 partition. Will that be OK?

Best go with the default, which is ext4, and get some hands-on experience yourself. /home on a separate partition is also the default with Mageia, and highly recommended.
