I'm not sure what happened except for what I could see. I got a notification for a Kernel update so I hit go.
I noticed there was no fglrx driver with the Kernel. Seems like there always is, pretty sure. It updated, said I should reboot as usual.
After reboot I had a black cursor theme, MCC wouldn't run and shutdown/restart didn't do anything either.
I ran MCC from a konsole and then got the fglrx update. It is here I was stuck. I don't know the new way to restart KDE from konsole.
So, what I did remember was init 3 and init 5. I did init 3 as root and then init 5 as root and I was back in and it all works, so far.
The cursor is back like it should be and everything seems ok, but I don't think init is the proper way to do it even though it's better than reset.
I posted this for others because it may do it to them. As Dok knows I had some strange problems with my ATI card that was a simple missing link/wrong location for a driver file.
All I need to know to mark this solved is the proper or best way to get out of and back into KDE. If this is a common problem someone may want to fix the driver download to come with the kernel. Maybe I should've ran update again before the reboot but I don't think I did before.
Also, it's probably my imagination but I'd bet it's faster. It sure was fast, but seems even faster to me!
