MTP "Media Transfer Protocol" devices and Mageia

I've got an older Android 2.3.4 device that easily
connects to my Mageia 3 platforms with out any
problems. Last weekend I attempted the same process
with a friends Samsung Galaxy 4 Android 4 Smartphone
and that didn't work. As I understand it starting
with Android 4.x that no longer directly supports
USB to "PC" connections. You must use MTP or
"Media Transfer Protocol". What application(s) are
being used in Mageia to accomplish this?

I see on my M3 system that libmtp, libmtp-utils and libmt9 are already installed
but kio-mtp is not installed. Is that the package that will allow the connection?

It was needed for my Google Nexus (Android 4.3), it is harmless to try.

smartphone, then what happens?

I believe the doktor was referring to CyanogenMod which their website describes as "CyanogenMod is an aftermarket firmware for a number of cell phones based on the open-source Android operating system. It offers features not found in the official Android based firmwares of vendors."
