[DONE]Updates Beyond Mageia

Postby infohou » Aug 2nd, '13, 20:07

Hello,

I have a server running on Mandriva 2010.2 that I want to migrate to Mageia. The only real trouble I had with Mandriva was having to change the mirror every few months or I could not update. Now I find out Mageia has only short term support for updates. Is there a third party group providing updates beyond Mageia's support period?

Folks don't like to update Linux servers every 18 months unless absolutely necessary.

This server is SOLID and I do not want to start over with Centos or whatever. In fact the system started as Mandrake on different hardware.

Thanks Folks,
Robert A. Ober

None that I'm aware of. The idea of a long term support version has been discussed, but that would require a significant increase in the number of people working on the distro - especially in the QA and Security teams, which are stretched to the limit already.

I was hoping somebody would say they are going to host updates.

If the upgrades between versions over the Internet gets better then it won't be a big deal to go to the next version.

Thanks,
