[SOLVED] mageia 3 - konq-plugins do not work

Postby michaelbischof » Aug 3rd, '13, 13:00

Hi,

I use Mageia 3 anew.I have installed konqueror plus konq-plugins. When I try to archive a complete website and select "Extras" in Konqueror I cannot see any webarchiver button - which is common for me from different distributions.
Any ideas?

Michael

[Solved] Re: mageia 3 - konq-plugins do not work

The culprit sat, as it is usually the case, in front of the machine.

I had established LXDE as the window manager plus additionally Konqueror as a webbrowser. In this way konq-plugins, though installed correctly, did not work. Now I have installed the meta-task kde - and it works now. As the output of "strace konqueror" is so voluminous as I non-developer I was not able to digest it. So which library or additional program exactly was missing I do not know.

For completeness sake, please report that as a bug, after searching if it hasn't been reported yet already: https://wiki.mageia.org/en/How_to_report_a_bug_properly

And please mark the thread accordingly by editing the topic of the first post and prefix it by [SOLVED], thanks.

Ok, I try my best! Are you sure that this is a bug? For me it seems to be like this: to run konqueror as a webbrowser one does not need much, it worked straight from the beginning.
The trouble was simply: to make use of this plugin one apparently needs some more stuff from kde, but it is resolved automatically by the urpmi-system. A bug?

Yes, and the case that not all required packages are automatically pulled by urpmi for the plugin to work without the rest of KDE is a bug, that should be reported.

@doctor5000
Apparently I am too stupid for such bug-reports. So hopefully developers of Mageia 3 read this forum as well.
I used Mageia 3 and had installed LXDE plus konqueror. The package konq-plugin was installed as I checked out. But the webarchiver did not function. Re-installing konqueror did not help.
After installing the whole kde (meta-task kde in synaptic) the webarchiver worked.
